1. Toggle Light Switch
This light switch is probably the one that the majority is familiar with. The toggle light switch is one of the most common types out there. It is seen often in most lighting appliances in houses and infrastructure.
Toggle light Switch |
Toggle switches are positioned or actuated by a lever that is angled in a way so that it will go either up or down. Pressure is necessarily applied to move the switch, allowing the circuit to be opened or closed, turning the lights on or off. They are quite cheap compared to other switch kinds. Moreover, this type’s compactness and convenience are among the usual reasons why it is often applied to a lot of buildings and homes.
2. Selector Light Switch
The selector switch includes a rotary knob which can be turned clockwise or counter clockwise. It could have a lever that allows a variety of positions for proper selection of the functions that the switch carries.
Selector Light Switch |
This type of switch could also come in a multiple mode configuration. This enables you to choose from a number of lighting modes. When you have different colored lights at home for fun or style, this is the one to use. For instance, you have art rooms or music rooms, this is a very cool light switch to stylize and put swag and special lighting effects to your room!
Styles are numerous and flexible including non-illuminated, illuminated and non-illuminated operated by keys.
3. Proximity Switch
From the name itself, the proximity switch is exactly as the name suggests. It operates when a person is in close proximity to the switch. To explain this in a more practical way, the proximity switch works by making use of a sensor, most preferably infrared sensors that can detect the presence of heat. Those sensors release the electric current when a person is in a room and switches off when the person gets out of the room or place.
Proximity Switch |
There are no other external switches used making it compact and efficient. This type of light switch is common in most modern houses and buildings. This type aids in power saving due to the fact that some people often forget to close the lights when leaving a room. This one functions depending on the presence of somebody in the room.
4. Dimmer Light Switch
The dimmer light switch controls or rather adjusts the flow of current to the circuit that allows the light fixture to emit a selectable or varying amount of light. This adds a great amount of adjustable aesthetic ambiance to the bedroom, living room or any other unique room where ambiance may be of great use.
Dimmer Light Switch |
This type of switch makes your rooms at home entertaining and interesting to your guests. A dimmer capable light bulb is to be partnered with it; you can adjust the amount of light using this switch. That bulb is compatible with the dimmer light switch and should be used when choosing to utilize a dimmer light switch.
